About Me
I am a Specialist Wellness Counsellor registered with ASCHP (SWC21100). I work with young adults navigating life's challenges. I take a gentle, person-centred empowering approach and view counselling as a process of rediscovery. The voice within you has been there all along: I merely walk alongside you to find it.

My View on Difficult Emotions
Emotion, the ability to feel, is what makes us human. There is no innately 'bad' emotion. In fact, every single emotion is positive and constructive. Anger, for example, tells us that someone has crossed a boundary of ours. Overwhelm is a call from the body to go inwards and take care of our own needs before the needs of others. When are emotions destructive? When we battle to sit with difficult emotions and project them onto others.
A lot of us haven't been taught how to manage difficult emotions as children. That little child still exists in each and every one of us, and is the very thing that gets upset, angry, frustrated, bored, excited, joyful etc. How do most of us respond to this inner child? With the same criticism and judgement we had from our environment growing up. 'What is wrong with me' 'Why do I feel like this, I have no reason to' 'Not right now' 'I don't have time for you' I have to keep moving forward' 'Just suck it up'.
What would happen if we honoured and nurtured the child? If, every time the child gets upset, we slow down, listen and validate. We can learn to say things like:

'I have got you'
'It's going to be okay'
'It makes so much sense that you feel this way'
'I'm right here'
Emotion is the inner child, calling for us to take action. How can we sit with the child, and be curious in what it has to say? How can we be the loving adult it is so desperate for?
Words from Clients

Ky is so intuitive when it comes to our sessions. She gives me comfort and support when I need it, and pushes me out of my comfort zone when I'm holding back. I have made so much progress in my mental health, and Ky has been the guiding force behind it.

I have been going to Kyra for almost a year already & it's the best thing I could've done for my younger self, was join one of Kyra's sessions. She has such a soft and kind approach to things, making you feel so safe and heard.

I have been through so many mental health professionals before finding Ky. She is unlike anyone I have come across. I always feel seen, and she makes me feel in the driver's seat. Her guidance and wisdom has helped me transformed my life in ways I still cannot fully comprehend.
